Man sentenced to 45 years imprisonment in narcotics case
A Dhaka court today sentenced Enayet Ullah to 45 years rigorous imprisonment in a case filed against him for possessing 9,000 yaba pills and 100 grams of heroin in May 2018.
Judge Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman of Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka gave the sentence in presence of the accused.
The judge also sentenced five others to five years rigorous imprisonment each for possessing 1,000 yaba pills. The convicts are: Sajib Miah, Ajmal Bepary, Edul Sheikh, Sadhon Rajbangshi and Ruhul Amin.
Earlier, the prosecution and the defence completed their arguments and the court recorded statements of 13 prosecution witnesses.
According to prosecution, Jatrabari police in a drive arrested Enayet and the five others on May 19, 2018. Police also seized 9,000 yaba pills and 100 grams of heroin from Enayet and 1,000 pieces from the five others.
A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act against them with Jatrabari Police Station.
After an investigation, police pressed charges against Enayet and five others on August 11, 2018.
