City dwellers eager to leave the capital crowd at the Kamalapur Railway Station ticket counters yesterday afternoon. The government imposed seven-day restrictions -- which includes a suspension of public transport -- starting today from 6:00am to curb the spread of coronavirus infections. However, there is no evidence of social distancing in the photo and many are not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly.

There was a massive rush in the capital yesterday, on the eve of the government’s 7-day restrictions to curb the recent spike in coronavirus cases. With public transport set to be suspended from today, hundreds of city dwellers rushed to Gabtoli Bus Terminal to go back to their home districts;
others crowded at the Sadarghat Launch Terminal.
A common theme in all the photos taken yesterday is that health guidelines -- social distancing and wearing masks -- were flouted.
With their belongings, families of two brothers on a flatbed wait to cross the Padma at Shimulia ferry terminal yesterday. One of the brothers drove an auto-rickshaw in Dhaka and the other worked for a firm. Their wives worked in garment factories. They said due to the uncertainty caused by Covid restrictions, they decided to quit their jobs and go back to their home in Shariatpur.
