The activities of gangs, which knock out their victims to rob them, have been on the rise in recent times. A victim, who lost everything he had on him, was found in the capital’s Paltan area yesterday. Locals were taking him to a nearby hospital on a rickshaw van. Photo: Anisur Rahman
The Martyrs’ Memorial in Khulna’s Gallamari area was built about nine years ago, but the construction of some other structures around it is yet to be completed as per the design of the project. This enables people and animals enter the area freely, which mars the sanctity of the memorial. The mud road leading to the memorial often goes under water after a light shower. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Habibur Rahman
A small truck trundles on Bijoy Sarani in the capital yesterday carrying used iron rods that are sticking out, putting other road users at risk. Clearly the load should have been on a longer truck that could fit all of it on its bed and not put other road users at risk. Trucks are banned on Dhaka streets during the day. Photo: Star
People, mostly of middle and lower income groups, throng the makeshift shops on the footpaths near Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to buy winter clothes yesterday. Many markets in the capital had similar crowds in recent days as the mercury dropped following a spell of showers. Photo: Palash Khan
