This century-old market bustles with growers from around the district bringing their golden fibre for sale during the peak season. Jute mills from near and far usually collect their raw material from here.

Long stretches of footpaths have been dug up in the capital’s Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue for work on drainage system by the Dhaka North City Corporation.
