A FLAME IN FLIGHT … A Small Minivet, or Orange Minivet, during lift-off. These strikingly beautiful passerine birds are common and widespread in tropical South and Southeast Asia. Known to be calm wanderers of the forests, they can mostly be seen in small flocks, especially when hunting. What makes this little bird more interesting is that their calls vary during hunting and mating seasons. Small Minivet numbers have remained stable for the past few decades, due to which the IUCN has listed it in the “Least Threatened” category.
