Women browsing flowers at a shop in the capital’s Shahbagh on the eve of Pahela Falgun, the first day of spring, yesterday. Flower shops were busy making bouquets and garlands for buyers who came by, but the sale was very low due to high prices. Pahela Falgun coincides with Valentine’s Day.

Cargo vessels overloaded with sand ply the Turag violating safety standards which often leads to accidents. Sand traders allegedly force bulk carriers to overload to cut shipment costs and the number of trips required. The photo was taken in the capital’s Gabtoli yesterday.

The photo shows beautiful paintings done by a team of expert artisans on tea stalls at Dhaka University’s TSC, which were inaugurated yesterday to mark the first day of spring today. Last year, the TSC received a similar glow-up by the same team.
