The Harihar river is occupied by influential people of Swaranpur village in Jashore’s Manirampur upazila for fish farming. They have built small dams across the river and created their “own” ponds and lakes. A large part of the 45km river has already been taken over in Jhikargachha, Manirampur and Jashore Sadar upazilas.
