At the onset of the dry season, brick kiln owners in Nandirgaon union under Sylhet’s Gowainghat upazila have begun preparing their kilns to go into operation after a brief hiatus during monsoon. Most of these brick kilns rely on the topsoil from cropland, which reduces the fertility of the land. The photo was taken on Friday.
