Gonoshasthaya Kendra Founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury today called upon the government to launch burn units at every district-level hospital and provide the medical professionals relevant training to treat patients with burn injuries.

He came up with the remark this noon after visiting the site of the recent blast incident at Pashchim Tolla Baitus Salaat Jame Mosque in Fatullah of Narayanganj Sadar upazila.

"I feel really sad to think about the pain they [blast victims] had to bear for around two hours as they were being taken to Dhaka from Narayanganj. The pain of burn injuries is unimaginable, unless you experience it," he also said.

Dr Zafrullah lamented that the fatalities could have been much less if a little more caution and more prompt measures were taken in this regard.

"It is evident from the damage and loss of lives that the explosion was a devastating one. The sad part is that, the victims should have been provided primary treatment immediately, which did not happen," he said.

He wished eternal peace upon those who died from the explosion and prompt recovery for the injured.
