Permanent solution to Rohingya crisis emphasised
Emphasising permanent solution of the Rohingya problems, Food and Disaster Management Minister Abdur Razzaque yesterday said Bangladesh, despite being a poor country, continues giving shelter and assistance to the Rohingyas on humanitarian consideration.
“But it will be very difficult for the country to bear this burden for a longer period,” he said while a three-member delegation led by Kelly Clements, deputy assistant secretary of Population, Refugee and Immigration Bureau of the United States, called on him at his Secretariat office.
During the meeting, Kelly Clements appreciated Bangladesh for giving shelter and extending cooperation to the Rohingyas.
She recommended for increasing humanitarian programmes, assisted by the international organisations, for the refugees living in the camps.
