Aduri gets five rickshaws
Aduri, who survived brutal torture by her employer in the capital, got five rickshaws from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday.
Patuakhali Superintendent of Police Md Rafiqul Hasan Goni formally handed over the rickshaws to the family of the 11-year-old girl at a function held at policelines at the district headquarters in the afternoon.
Among others, Aduri, her mother Safia Begum, Additional SP Azimul Haque and newsmen from print and electronic print media were present in the programme
DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed sent the rickshaws so that Aduri's family could be survived happily, said SP Goni.
In addition, an initiative to provide education for Aduri was taken by the police administration.
DMP already took steps to buy a piece of land and a new house for the girl at her village Katurataluk in Sadar upazila, said Goni.
Md Monirul Islam, officer in-charge of Patuakhali Police Station, said “The SP visited Aduri at her home at the village on Thursday and informed her family that the DMP commissioner expressed his desire to give a piece of land and a new house for her”.
On September 23, two women rescued Aduri from a dustbin at DOHS Baridhara in Dhaka in a serious condition as employer Nowrin Jahan left her there, after brutally torturing her.
Later police brought her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and after treatment for one and a half months there, she was handed to her family on November 3.
