Shootings resume in Kolkata after strike

Shooting of all of Kolkata's mega serials were shut down due to a sudden strike declared by the artistes and technicians. The strike was called on from August 18. The actors and technicians were instructed by Prasenjit Chatterjee and Arindam Ganguli of Artist Forum, to arrive on allotted call time, put on makeup and not to carry on with shooting. The actors of mega serials claimed that some of the producers did not pay them their remuneration on stipulated dates.

To protest the wrongdoing, the artistes held back from shooting thus there was no telecast of new episodes for the past few days. Some channels were repeating the episodes while others were airing some highlights of the stories so far from the daily soaps. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee recently attended a press conference, where she claimed that her government will reach a decision on this matter as soon as possible. Shootings resumed in Kolkata yesterday.
