A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed and two other people injured in a head-on collision between a private car and the three-wheeler in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi today.

The deceased was identified as Md Shahin, 35, son of Md Kamal Uddin of Narandi village in Shukundi Union of Monohardi upazila, said Md Shahiduzzaman, sub-inspector of Monohordi Police Station.

SI Shahiduzzaman said the accident occurred around 9:30am on a culvert in the Chongvanda area when a private car heading towards Hatidia from Narsingdi town collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.

Shahin sustained critical injuries and died on the way to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, the SI added.

Legal proceedings regarding the accident are underway. No arrests have been made yet, but police have seized the private car, said SI Shahiduzzaman.
