A woman succumbed to burn injuries at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute last night after suffering the injury from an explosion caused from leaked gas six days ago.

Ruma Akhter, 32, passed away following the death of her husband Abdul Khalil, 40, who also sustained burns from the same incident.

Md Shawon bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute, confirmed her death, saying Ruma had suffered burns on 20 percent of her body and her respiratory tract was also burned.

She passed away while being treated.

The explosion occurred on November 24 morning in their rented tin-shed house in Mirpur that left seven people including a child injured.
