Speeding led to Madaripur road accident: probe report

The bus being driven at a high speed was the main reason behind the Madaripur road crash on March 19, according to the probe report published today.

The accident on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Shibchar upazila left 19 people dead.

Madaripur Additional Deputy Commissioner Pallab Kumar Hazra revealed the report to media around 12:30pm, our local correspondent reports.

Also, the fitness certificate of the bus had expired, and the driver did not have a professional licence to drive heavy vehicles, the official said.

He added that the driver had a medium vehicle licence.

The road was slippery due to the rain.

The additional DC also said that it is not possible to say whether the accident happened after one of the tyres had burst.
