SCBA polls: Chief Justice has nothing to do with it

Attorney General AM Amin Uddin has said that the chief justice has nothing to do with the untoward situation arisen out of the Supreme Court Bar Association elections.
The chief justice has also asked him to solve the issue by talking with the senior lawyers of the association, the attorney general told the journalists at his office this afternoon after a meeting with the CJ.
Quoting the CJ, the attorney general said "It is a matter of the bar (law society). The chief justice has nothing to do here. You sit and discuss with the senior lawyers of the bar and solve the problem."
The AG said both parties have to take responsibility equally to keep the election environment healthy.
"One side will tear the ballot and the other side will block it, then how will the environment be okay? Who to blame?" the AG said.
"BNP did not want to hold elections from the beginning. The night before the election, some the ballot papers were torn," he said.
In response to another question, he said, BNP supporters can demand re-election. But he also pointed out that the election is going smoothly and hundreds of lawyers are voting along the lines.
