Torture of IU student: 2 BCL leaders suspended, asked to leave hall
Authorities of the Chhatra League unit of Kushtia's Islamic University suspended Sanjida Chowdhury and Tabassum Islam, who have been accused of torturing a female student for staying at a student dormitory without informing them.
Faisal Siddique Arafat, BCL's IU unit president, confirmed this information to The Daily Star.
Both Sanjida and Tabassum also left the university's Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall last night, hall Provost Prof Shamsul Haque said.
Sanjida is a student of statistics and Tabassum is a student of finance and banking department.
Faisal said, "If they [Sanjida and Tabassum] are found guilty in the investigation, recommendations for action against them will be submitted to the central BCL and the university administration."
Prof Shamsul said, "We instructed the accused to leave the hall after we received the directives of the university administration verbally.
"No one in the dormitory room is a resident student of the hall, they are allowed to live there as non-residents," he said.
