EU delegation in Bandarban for Sangrai Poi, Maitree Water Festival

A five-member delegation led by EU Ambassador Michael Miller arrived in Bandarban today to experience the natural beauty and cultural diversity of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The visit coincides with the Marma community's largest social and cultural festivities—Maha Sangrai Poi and the Maitree Water Festival.
Upon their arrival at Nilachal, a popular tourist destination, on Friday morning, the EU delegation was greeted by Suprodip Chakma, adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and former ambassador.
Chakma provided an overview of the region's natural landscape, cultural richness, and the unique facets of indigenous life.
During the visit, the delegates toured Nilachal, Meghla, and surrounding tourist spots, accompanied by Chakma. The delegation admired the region's scenic beauty, pleasant weather, and warm hospitality.
The delegation included Katarina Miller, Italian Ambassador in Dhaka Antonio Alessandro, Paola Belfore, and Dutch lawyer Andre Kerstens.
The adviser's spouse Nandita Chakma, Chairman of the Bandarban Hill District Council Prof Thansama Lusai, Additional Secretary to the Ministry Pradeep Kumar Mohottam, Joint Secretary Kankan Chakma, Bandarban Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawser, along with senior officials from the district administration and law enforcement agencies were present at the time.
Suprodip Chakma is currently on a five-day official tour of the Hill Tracts, participating in cultural events to celebrate Marma New Year.
