Two people were killed and at least ten others injured when a timber-laden truck lost control and rammed into a local kitchen market in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj this morning.
The accident took place around 7:00am at Akbarnagar Bus Stand Bazaar area, adjacent to the Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional highway in Kalikaprashad Union under the upazila, confirmed Sahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhairab Highway Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Angur Mia, 45, and Halim Mia, 60, both residents of the same union.
Citing eyewitnesses, OC Sahabur said the speeding truck, heading towards Bhairab from Kishoreganj, hit two CNG-run auto-rickshaws before crashing into the kitchen market.
Both vehicles were crushed in the impact.

Several others were seriously injured and taken to Bhairab Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Angur Mia dead.
One critically injured person was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
"Responding to a call made to the national emergency service number 999, highway police rushed to the spot and seized the truck. However, the driver and his assistant managed to flee and are yet to be arrested," the OC added.
