Army chief ‘always speaks his mind’: adviser Sakhawat

Labour and Employment Adviser M Sakhawat Hussain today commended Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, describing him as a "straightforward and highly respected leader".
"He has been leading the force with integrity and does not speak without a clear understanding of the matter. As far as I know, he is a very straightforward man -- very, very straightforward," Sakhawat, a retired brigadier general, told journalists.
Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka, the adviser praised the army chief's direct approach.
"He always speaks his mind. I have great respect for him. However, I am not in a position to interpret his remarks," Sakhawat said at the press meet to brief journalists on the closure of 14 textile and garment units inside Beximco Industrial Park.
His remarks came in response to journalists' queries regarding General Waker-Uz-Zaman's speech delivered on February 25 in remembrance of the officers killed in the 2009 Pilkhana carnage, drawing widespread media attention.
