Container train derails at Kamalapur, services resume fully after disruption

Rail operations between Dhaka and the rest of the country have resumed fully after a disruption caused by a container train derailment at the entrance of Kamalapur Railway Station this morning.
However, passenger sufferings have continued following cascading delays.
The train services remained completely suspended for one and a half hours since the derailment at 11:30am.
The authorities managed to clear one of the two tracks by 1:10pm, allowing limited train movement.
Although the railways authorities were able to open the second line around 2:10pm, trains are still running late.

"Services have resumed fully, but because there is a backlog, every train will be delayed by 1.5 to 2 hours," Anwar Hossain, station master of Kamalapur, told this correspondent at 8:00pm.
However, railway sources said some trains may be delayed by 3 to 4 hours.
