EC issues guidelines for international election observers
The Election Commission today issued guidelines for international observers with a provision that individuals or organisations functioning as observers should have a working experience of "good governance, elections, democracy, peace building and human rights".
Shariful Alam, director (public relations) of the EC, confirmed the matter.
The new guideline also said that applicant organisations should produce evidence of registration with the relevant authorities of its own country.
EC last month started the amendment process of the 2018 guideline for international observers.
International election observers have to submit election observation reports within 30 days of the polling day by email or hard copy to the secretary of the EC Secretariat.
The reports should be prepared based on pre-poll, poll-day and post-poll observations, according to the policy.
International observers shall ensure that their observations and reporting are impartial, objective and depict the highest standards of accuracy.
