Ex-chief justice Ruhul Amin no more
Former chief justice Md Ruhul Amin died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka early today. He was 83.
He breathed his last at 4:30am while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has suspended all judicial functions of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions for today in tribute to Justice Ruhul Amin, Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md Shafiul Islam told The Daily Star.
However, the administrative procedures of the SC will run as usual.
PRO Shafiqul Islam said Justice Ruhul Amin was 15th chief justice of Bangladesh. He left behind his wife and two daughters and a host of admirers to mourn his death.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed expressed deep shock at the death of Justice Ruhul Amin and prayed for salvation and eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
His namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Supreme Court's Inner Garden on Tuesday after Zohr prayer, he added.
