Fuchka, bhorta, chomchom, halim: Bangladeshi cuisine ranked 43rd in world
Bangladeshi cuisine has been ranked 43rd in the world by TasteAtlas, a Bulgaria-based global travel guide company.
The country got 3.97 points and Fuchka, bhorta, chomchom, halim, and jilapi have been selected among the 20 best-rated food items of Bangladesh in this year's TasteAtlas Awards.
A world atlas of traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants, TasteAtlas collates authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes, according to its website.
The ranking is based on votes by the audience for ingredients, dishes and beverages. The website features an interactive global food map with dish icons shown in their respective regions.
According to this year's list, the best restaurants to try for Bangladeshi cuisines are Haji Biriyani (Dhaka), Al-Razzaque (Dhaka), Salam's Kitchen (Dhaka), Kutum Bari (Sreemangal), Pritiraj Restaurant (Sylhet).
Italy ranked first followed by Greece and Spain on second and third spots respectively among 95 countries in the world. India ranked fifth on the list while Japanese cuisine earned the fourth spot. Pakistani cuisine secured the 47th spot.
