The ruling Awami League is holding its "peace rallies" in Dhaka and five other metropolitan cities today in an apparent bid to counter the BNP rallies at the divisional headquarters across the country.

In Dhaka, AL leaders and activists have gathered on the premises of Kamrangirchar Hospital to denounce "BNP's terror and anarchy" this afternoon.

The AL's Dhaka City (south) unit is organising the event. AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader will address the rally as the chief guest.

The other cities where the AL is organising rallies are Mymensingh, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, and Rangpur.
