BNP leaders take part in march to protest activist’s death

BNP's leaders and activists took part in a procession in the capital to protest the killing of Krishak Dal activist Sajeeb Hossain in Lakshmipur.
The procession started from the party's Nayapaltan office at 4:00pm. The party men marched to Fakirapool and then were making their way back to Nayapaltan around 5:00pm, when this report was filed.
Participants wore black armbands and carried placards with anti-government slogans.
Prior to the procession, senior BNP leaders criticised the government, with BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi saying that Sajeeb's murder was pre-planned.
"The government tried to halt our movement by killing Sajeeb. This government is responsible for this murder," he added.
BNP Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu said, "Nineteen leaders and activists have been killed so far. [PM Sheikh] Hasina's current government is trying to stop our one-point demand by targeting BNP activists."
Dhaka North City BNP Convener Amanullah Aman said the current government will be held accountable for Sajeeb's murder.
