Law ministry denies Khaleda permission to go abroad for treatment
The law ministry has given its opinion denying BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia permission to go abroad for treatment.
"I have given my opinion on the application that sought government permission for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to go aboard for treatment and I sent the relevant file with my opinion to the home ministry," Law Minister Anisul Huq told reporters at his ministry office in the afternoon today.
He said the application, on which the government has suspended the jail sentence of Khaleda Zia and released her from jail on two conditions, has been disposed of and has become a "past and closed transaction".
According to the conditions, Khaleda Zia has to receive treatment at her residence and cannot go abroad and therefore, there was no scope to allow her to go abroad, Anisul said.
