Rajshahi–C'nawabganj train services resume after 3.5 hours

Rail communications on Rajshahi–Chapainawabganj route were restored after three and a half hours of suspension following the derailment of Banalata Express train this morning.

A coach of Banalata Express from Chapainawabganj derailed around 7:00am after the train reached at Rajshahi railway station. According to railway officials, a wheel of coach "Tha" derailed with a loud noise, prompting an immediate response from station staff.

"The derailment happened just as the train was entering the platform. One wheel of the coach burst and slipped off the track," said Shahidul Islam, station manager of Rajshahi Railway Station.

"However, we have successfully resolved the issue and the derailed coach has been put back on track," he added.

The train movement resumed around 10:35am, Shahidul said.
