Possibility of gas shortage on second day of Ramadan as well
Like yesterday, the first day of Ramadan, there is a possibility of limited gas supply in Dhaka and surrounding areas today.
Gas crisis hit the country yesterday after six wells in the largest gas field Bibiana stopped working suddenly.
As a result, people in different parts of Dhaka were forced to buy food after fasting all day.
Today, on the second day of Ramadan, at around 3:30 pm, an "urgent" press release from Petrobangla said that the supply of gas at a reduced rate for emergency maintenance work at the Chevron-operated Bibiana gas field could lead to a shortage of gas in different parts of the country.
The notification, as on the previous day, read – "sincerely regret the temporary inconvenience".
"It is expected that it will be possible to normalise the gas supply situation at the earliest by completing the maintenance and repair work," it said.
