5kg gold recovered in Ctg airport
Chittagong Custom House (CCH) officials recovered 45 gold bars worth around Tk 2.25 crore at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this morning.
One person was detained for illegally possessing the gold weighing around five kilogrammes.
The detainee Giasuddin, flew into the airport from Muscat of Oman by a US-Bangla flight, our local correspondent reports quoting Kajal Nandi, revenue officer of CCH.
Tipped-off, Giasuddin was challenged by a team of customs officials after his arrival. Later, the gold bars were found hidden inside his bag, the official said.
The gold bars weighing around 5.248kg could worth around 2.25cr, he said adding that legal action will be taken against the detainee.
