Eid holidaymakers opting to journey by train are suffering immensely as many trains were running hours late today.

Till 1:30pm, at least 28 trains have left Kamalapur Railway Station and of them six were late, reports our staff correspondent quoting Shitangshu Chakrabarty, manager of the station.

Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express was late by 3.15 hours, Jamalpur-bound Dewanganj Eid Special by 20 minutes, Khulna-bound Sundarban Express by 1.55 hours, Nilphamari-bound Nilsagar Express by 3.5 hours and Rangpur-bound Rangpur Express four hours, said Shitangshu Chakrabarty.

While Lalmonirhat-bound Lalmoni Eid Special which was scheduled to leave Kamalapur Railway Station at 9:15am reached the platform at 1:30pm and finally left for its destination around 3:20pm.

Hundreds of passengers were seen waiting at the Kamalapur Railway Station waiting for their trains, reports the correspondent from the spot.

The trains that left the station were overcrowded and many passengers were seen travelling on the train rooftop.
