Rider, pillion hurt in crash near Airport Road

A motorcyclist and his pillion were hurt after a bus hit the motorcycle from the rear near Airport Road in Dhaka Cantonment area today.

The bus hit the motorcycle as it was coming down the Kuril flyover near ECB Chattar around 3:30pm, said Kazi Shahan Haque, officer-in-charge of Cantonment Police Station.

The victims were primarily identified as Atikul Islam, 28, and his cousin Fatema, 19. They were rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital and were under treatment.

Police have seized the bus of Robrob Paribahan and detained its driver, the OC added.

Notably, a road crash on Airport Road last July 29 that killed two college students triggered mass protests with students blockading Dhaka in demand for safer roads.
