One held with 4 gold bars, ornaments at Dhaka airport
Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested a man along with four gold bars and gold ornaments, weighing 564 grams, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Salauddin.
Director General (DG) of CIID Dr Shahidul Islam, said a flight of 'Emirates Airlines' landed at the airport around 12:30am from Dubai.
Tipped off, a team of CIID challenged Salauddin while he was crossing the green zone of the airport.
After interrogation, he confessed to carrying gold bars and ornaments hidden in his rectum.
Later, the gold bars and ornaments, worth Tk 35 lakh, were released from his bowel. Salahuddin was handed over to Airport Police Station.
