A probe committee has blamed drivers of both vehicles for the deadly crash of August 25 in Natore’s Baraigram that killed 15 people and hurt 20 others.

Both drivers were driving recklessly, said the report prepared and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner today, our local correspondent reports.

It gave out a dozen recommendations that include widening the turnings on highways, stop fitness-less vehicles and irregularities in the transport sector.

The probe body was formed with Natore Additional Magistrate Md Saiduzzaman, Boraigram circle police’s Additional Superintendent Md Harun-ur-Rashid, and BRTA Assistant Director Saidur Rahman.

On August 25, a bus collided with a human haulier on Natore-Pabna highway in Baraigram upazila, killing 10 people on the spot and five others later in hospitals.

Bus in Natore Crash: Ran without route permit for 26 years

Reporters found out that both the vehicles were not supposed to by plying streets. The bus was brought as scrap and then boosted, while the human haulier was remodelled from a microbus to increase passenger capacity.

Neither of the vehicles had a route permit.

Also, the incident followed a series of student uprising throughout Bangladesh, during the first week of August, demanding safer roads for everyone.
