BGB-BSF hold sector commander-level meeting
A sector commander-level courtesy meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh and India's Border Security Force was held at a border in Dinajpur's Biral upazila today.
The meeting comes held three days after BSF picked up a farmer from the border area in Biral on Friday. However, BSF later freed the farmer, Al Amin, after 5 hours.
The meeting was held at the 42 BGB Battalion ICP in Biral, near the Kishoreganj border in Bhantara union, around 11:30am.
The 14-member BGB delegation was led by Colonel Gazi Mohammad Mizanul Haque, sector commander of BGB Dinajpur Sector, while the 14-member BSF delegation was led by DIG Shri Ish Aul, sector commander of BSF Kishanganj Sector.
The meeting focused on enhancing mutual relations and strengthening brotherhood between the two border forces.
Both sides expressed firm commitment to work jointly on key issues, including reducing border killings, combatting drug and human trafficking, preventing illegal border crossings, and stopping the cutting of border fences.
The meeting also emphasised on maintaining cordial relations, ensuring regular communication, and reducing border crimes through coordinated efforts.
