Outgoing EC team chief makes farewell call on President
The outgoing head of the European Commission delegation in Dhaka, ambassador Michael Drury, made a farewell call on President Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban yesterday, reports UNB.
During the talks, the President expressed his happiness at the progress achieved in strengthening relations between Bangladesh and the European Union (EU) during Drury's term of office as the head of the European Commission delegation.
The President particularly mentioned that ambassador Drury's personal qualification and initiatives have played a significant role in making Bangladesh-EU relations closer than ever before.
He also stated that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with the European community which is its target export destination and important development partners.
Bangladesh enjoys the best of relations with the European Community both bilaterally with each of the member countries and the community as a whole, he mentioned.
The outgoing ambassador thanked the President for receiving him. He expressed his deep gratitude to the government and the people of Bangladesh for their sincere cooperation in discharging his assignment as ambassador and head of delegation of the European Community in Dhaka.
