Khaleda gets interim bail in one case

The High Court (HC) yesterday granted six months' interim bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed for questioning the number of martyrs of Liberation War.

The bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashefa Hussain granted the bail.

Deputy Attorney General Kamrul Ahsan Khan Aslam said the government will move an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the order.

According to the case statement, in a programme held in the capital on December 21, 2015, Khaleda remarked that the actual number of Liberation War martyrs is controversial.

On January 5, 2016, AB Siddiqui, sued her for making the derogatory remarks.
