The body of slain sailor Hadisur Rahman is in the process of being brought from Ukraine to Bangladesh via Romania and could reach Romania tomorrow, Bangladesh Ambassador to Poland, Sultana Laila, told The Daily Star today.

"The Romanian government is asking for additional documents which Ukraine has not yet issued. We will collect these documents today. Our vehicle is ready. The release work has also been done. Hadisur's body is expected to be taken to Romania tomorrow morning," she said.

On bringing the body from Ukraine to Bangladesh, the ambassador said, "His body will be taken from Ukraine to Moldova border in a freezing van. Vehicles will be changed there. Then the vehicle from there will take the body to Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The Bangladesh ambassador to Romania will arrange sending Hadisur's body to Bangladesh by flight as soon as possible from there."

Hadisur Rahman, the third engineer of the ship Banglar Samriddhi, lost his life in a missile attack on the ship at Olvia port in Ukraine.

The remaining 28 crew members of the ship luckily survived the attack and returned to Bangladesh yesterday.
