Maria Nur has proved herself to be a multitalented young woman, recently in present-day television media. Starting off as a Radio Jockey for a radio station in Dhaka, her easy going nature, inquisitive personality, courage and hard work have shot her to fame within a short while. Appearing in a TV advertisement recently, Maria has also made a name for herself hosting analysis programmes after cricket matches. Taking a minute out from her busy schedule, Maria speaks to the Star Weekend and shares her thoughts with the readers.
What are the three things you would take with you to a deserted island?
A willing and smart companion, a sleeping bag and a boat to get off the island.
If you were given a chance to play a role in an old film, which role and which film would they be?
Allie (Rachel McAdams) from The Notebook and The bride (Uma Therman) from Kill Bill.
What is your favourite midnight snack?
Noodle soup, chicken nuggets, ice cream, chocolate chip cookies and spring rolls.
Which director or directors would you like to work with in the future?
In Bangladesh, I'd like to work with Mostofa Sarwar Farooqi, Amirabh Reza and Piplu R Khan. In Hollywood, I'd love to work with Danny Boyle and Steven Spielberg.
What is your favourite form of exercise?
Dancing, free hand and yoga.
What is the message you would like to give to all the young people trying to enter your profession?
Preparation is the key to success. Have the right mindset. Be a class act. Lastly, it's not about you, it's about the viewer. Viewers need to feel that you are there for them, to entertain them, inspire them and help them learn something.
