Pakistani team meets Speaker
A delegation of Pakistan led by its Parliamentary Affairs Minister Muhammad Yasin Khan Watto called on Speaker Humayun Rasheed Chowdhury at Sangsad Bhaban yesterday, reports UNB.
The delegation members included Advisor to the Pakistan Prime Minister Pir Sabir Hossain Shah and seven other parliamentarians.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of common interest with special emphasis on the functioning of parliaments of two countries.
Emphasising the need for peace and cooperation amongst the countries of South Asia, Humayun Rasheed Chowdhury said many of the misunderstanding could be removed through full implementation of the SAARC spirit.
He also stressed the need for strengthening cooperation between the parliaments of Bangladesh and Pakistan and proposed formation of parliamentary friendship groups for increasing people-to-people contact.
The Pakistan Minister reciprocated the sentiment and deeply lauded the role of Bangladesh in arranging the historic one-day business summit of the leaders of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.
The Pakistan Minister and other parliamentarians are in the city in connection with the business summit.
Later, the delegation members went round the parliament chamber and north plaza, said a press release.
