Furious 7 airdrop - how it was done (video)

The Furious 7 was a massive hit not just because it was a well-crafted memento to the late Paul Walker but it featured fresh new takes on car chases. The team pulled out scenes that were never seen before and that's saying something for car movies where pretty much everything has been done and tried before. What did they do? They dropped cars out of an airplane like they do in real life military situations. In case of the Furious team, the dial was notched up beyond ten as their task was to drop the cars, battles drafts and land on a narrow mountain pass. You know why this is ridiculous?

Because the military drops vehicles onto wide flat terrain so that the things don't fall off a mountain or into a tree. But this is a movie to help you digest your popcorn. Ridiculous it has to be. Sit back and watch how the stunt coordinating team did it all with real cars in a time when CG rules. Also, the famous Dodge Charger is now an off-roading Baja special.

Below are examples of real life air drops. You'll notice these happen around flat open areas devoid of trees, spikey rocks and Iraq.
