New Indian HC arrives in Pakistan

T C A Raghavan, a diplomat with considerable experience of Pakistan affairs, arrived in the country yesterday to take over as the new Indian high commissioner.
Raghavan, who served as deputy high commissioner in Islamabad about a decade ago, crossed via the Wagah land border.
He will replace Sharat Sabharwal, who was given several extensions after he reached the age of retirement last year. Sabharwal returned to India earlier this month.
Nasa tests 3D printed rocket engine

Nasa yesterday announced it has successfully tested a 3D-printed rocket engine part.
The US space agency said that the injector component could be made more quickly and cheaply using the technique.
The part is used to deliver liquid oxygen and hydrogen gas to an engine's combustion chamber.
The news follows General Electric's revelation that it planned to use 3D printing technology to make fuel nozzles for its jet engines.

iPhone killed daughter!

Relatives of a 23-year-old woman from northwest China have claimed that she died after being electrocuted while using her iPhone.
The older sister of victim, Ailun, said on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, that Ma was electrocuted while trying to answer a call on her iPhone while the device was charging, Xinhua reported.
Apple on Sunday said the company felt "deeply sorry for the unfortunate accident" and expressed condolence to the victim and her family. It said it would have a thorough probe into the case.
India state poll violence kills 3

Three persons, including the husband of an opposition Marxist party candidate, were killed in violence during the second phase of panchayat elections in West Bengal yesterday.
An average 30 percent polling was recorded till noon in 3 districts - East Midnapore, in which Nandigram falls and Singur in Hooghly, besides Burdwan, State Election Commission said.
