Rajshahi road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed in separate road crashes in Mohonpur upazila and in the city on Wednesday.
Three people, including a college teacher, were killed as a truck crashed into a human hauler carrying them at Kishorehat in Mohonpur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Alam, 40, assistant professor of Kishorehat Degree College, Yeakub Ali, 45, and Akbar Hossain, 45. They hailed from Kishorehat area.
Officer-in-charge of Mohonpur Police Station Abdul Hamid said the accident took place around 11pm when a Rajshahi-bound truck hit the human hauler (bhutbhuti) in the area, leaving its passengers Jahangir and Yeakub dead on the spot and Akbar injured.
Akbar died on the way to hospital.
Besides, two cloth traders -- Mizanur Rahman,50, and Nazmul Haque,45-- were killed in a collision between a truck and a pick-up van in Katakhali municipality area in the morning.
Police said a Chapainawabganj-bound pick-up van from Pabna collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the area at about 7:00 am, leaving Mijanur and Nazmul dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a speeding truck hit a rickshaw van in Kharkhari area of the city at about 8:00 am, leaving its driver Joynal Abedin,45, dead on the spot.
