Another held remanded over Rajon murder
A Sylhet court today gave police five days to grill Badal Mia, another held by the public over the brutal torture-to-death of 13-year-old boy Samiul Alam Rajon.
Suranjit Talukdar, inspector of local Detective Branch of police, produced Badal before the court this afternoon and sought him for remand for 10 days.
Farhana Yesmin judge of the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate court-2 granted five days of remand after hearing around 3:00pm, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Earlier, Badal Mia, 26, was caught by locals at Sheikhpara in Sylhet Sadar upazila around 10:30pm yesterday, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
He is said to be a worker of a nearby garage of Jalalabad area where Rajon was beaten up cruelly on July 8 and also a witness of the incident. He was later handed over to police.
Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station endorsed the facts and said Badal Mia is now in police custody.
With this development, 12 people including four accused in the murder case have been arrested. All of the captures have been made by locals of Sylhet.
Police filed the case accusing Muhit and his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haider, 34, and watchman Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45.
Locals caught Muhit when they tried to hide Rajon’s body while his brother Kamrul was arrested in Saudi Arabia a few days after the killing incident. Haider and Moyna were also arrested later.
Rajon died of brain haemorrhage and around 64 injury marks were found in his body, according to the forensic report conducted by a doctor at Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
Rajon was beaten tied to a pole, as if he were a beast. He screamed for help, cried for water and begged for his life. But the culprits laughed and jeered at him. One of them even filmed the horrendous scene to share it on Facebook. Rajon died later.
The 28-minute clip of Rajon's torture has gone viral, triggering a firestorm of protests in the social media and public outrage in Sylhet. Locals formed a human chain near his house yesterday, demanding maximum punishment to the murderers.
