Cultural functions mark Independence Day

Artistes of Udichi Shilpi Goshthi enthralled a huge audience at a cultural function held at Mymensingh Press Club auditorium Saturday night.

The club organised the programme as part of its Independence Day celebrations. Swapon Sarker led the cultural team that rendered popular patriotic songs like “Muktir Mondir Sopan Tol-e” and “Purbo Digonte Surjo Uthechhe”, among others.

The programme ended with the national anthem.

Earlier, a discussion was held with Press Club secretary Md Babul Hossain, Professor. Reazul Islam, advocate AHM Khalequzzaman, freedom fighter Zia Uddin Ahmed, Md Momtaz Uddin and freedom fighter and researcher Bimol Pal as discussants.

Mymensingh Shilpakala Academy also organised cultural programme.

Alokchitra Shilpi Sangsad (Ashis), Mymensingh organised a daylong photography exhibition at Shaheed Quarter Park area of the town. Over 100 photographs on the War of Liberation were displayed at the exhibition, drawing a huge audience.

Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University also organised day long programmes including discussions, cultural programmes and photo exhibitions.
