Girl dies as her scarf gets tangled with auto motor
A college girl died after her scarf got entangled with the motor of an auto-rickshaw she was riding on in Shanir Akhra area yesterday.
Afrin Akhter Juthi, 18, along with two classmates was going home from a lunch party around 4:30pm. She was an HSC candidate from Motijheel Model School and College.
Kazi Wajed Ali, officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station, said they did not find the scarf, but saw strangle marks on her necks.
Sources in Dhaka Medical College said they also saw several strangle marks around her necks.
Anjuman Akhi, one of the classmates, said as the auto-rickshaw reached Goyal Bari Mor, Juthi suddenly shrieked and banged her head with the frame of the vehicle. There was blood coming out of her nose.
As the auto-rickshaw stopped, Akhi ran to the nearby chamber of Juthi's physician father.
“By the time I returned, locals took her to a clinic,” she said.
Juthi was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 6:00pm.
