AL man held with firearm in Tangail

Detectives in a drive arrested a local Awami League leader along with a firearm from his house in Gopalpur upazila of Tangail early today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of police raided the house of Saiful Islam Talukdar Suruj, AL general secretary of Gopalpur upaizla unit, and arrested him around 2:30am in connection with several criminal charges, said Mahafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tangail DB police.

Police also recovered a firearm from his possession.

Several cases were filed against him with Gopalpur Police Station, the OC added.
