2.5kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
Customs Intelligence detained a man along with 2.5 kilograms of gold hidden in his shoes and belt from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today.
Detainee Sharif Zakir Hossain, 39, son of Abul Kashem from Shariatpur, landed here in a flight from the Bangkok, Customs Intelligence sources said.
The market price of the gold is estimated at TK 1.25 crore.
Zakir was picked up from the belt No. 4 of customs hall after being suspected by intelligence team.
He is a frequent flyer and travelled three times this year so far, the sources said.
