Training in classical music, dance held
A five-day training focusing on classical music, Kathak dance and tabla concluded at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday.
Some 185 artistes in the 10- 35years age group from Mymensingh town and outside took part in the programme. The trainers were eminent classical master and composer Shahiduzzaman Swapon, also deputy director (training) of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy; Kathak dance exponent Saju Ahmed, and Md Arzu Parves, district cultural officer.
The trainees were acquainted with two ragas-“Chandrakauns”, and “Megh”.
The academy organised the programme as part of its country wide programme to inspire young artistes to take up classical music where music has its roots.
On the concluding day, participants also took part in group performances and entertained the huge audience at the venue.
