Why strikes at hospitals won’t be stopped: HC
The High Court today issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain in two weeks as to why they should not be directed to stop strikes enforced by doctors and nurses of hospitals.
In the rule, the court asked the authorities to show cause as to why their inaction to stop such strike should not be declared illegal.
The HC also asked them to explain as to why they should not be directed to stop untoward incidents between the doctors and nurses and the relatives of patients which caused strikes.

The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Hussain and Justice AKM Shahidul Haque issued the rule following a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB).
Health secretary, director general of health services directorate, inspector general of police among 23 government officials were made respondents to the rule, petitioner’s lawyer Manzill Murshid told The Daily Star.
In the petition, HRPB yesterday requested the court to direct the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to form a three-member committee to monitor twice a week whether the doctors and nurses enforce any strike at any hospital.
Strikes by doctors and nurses cause sufferings to patients, the petitioner said.
